I am writing three books about how we need a lot more critical thinking (and a couple other things such as species consciousness) if human beings are going to make it. The first book--MODELS MYTHS AND MUDDLES--was recently published. SWIMMING IN A SEA OF IDEOLOGY is in the works, due this fall.
I have two daughters and two adult grandsons in college or recently graduated. They all have artistic talent. Although I was born and raised in Midwestern cities (Minneapolis, Cleveland, Chicago) I've lived in a number of states from Florida to Oregon, cities from Rochester NY to San Diego and 6 months in San Miguel de Allende Mexico (before it became gentrified). The longest time has been in the Arkansas Ozarks where I came during the '70s as a "back to the lander." A couple years of living alone in a cabin in the woods ala Thoreau was a great learning experience.
My parents were "working-class intellectuals" and my own experiences from a wide range of jobs from janitor to gourmet cook to college instructor give perspective too.
I do not like to be pigeon-holed.
